Have you ever given a thought that why is it so that one cream suits yours friends but it may not have the same effect on you, though you have been using it as religiously as your friend? Well, to have a better understanding of our skin, today we will be concentrating on this topic.

Skin – The

Skin is the largest organ in the human body. It is a barometer of an individual’s health, a due to one’s Ayurvedic constitution. This can be understood by the type of skin that ons has. Example: The person with rough, dry, cold, thin skin with fine pores and wrinkles has vata predominant constitution. If it is of pitta constitution, the skin is delicate, fair and red toned with freckles, moles or acne and burns easily. In case of kapha dosha constitution, the skin of person is smooth, moist and thick with a tendency towards large pores.

In case, the skin is neglected from proper care it suffers from premature aging, becomes dull and blemished. Premature ageing can be prevented by regular and proper dosha specific nourishment.

Here’s is how to know what skin type you are:

In the holistic Ayurvedic approach to skin care the first step is finding out your ayurvedic skin type.

Vata skin: Skin is generally dry, thin, delicate and cool to the touch,, may age faster, and tends to be dry, rough and flaky when out of balance. Vata skin easily gets dehydrated, and is very prone to the effects of windy and dry weather.

Pitta skin: Skin tends to be more prone to freckles and moles then the other skin types. Pitta skin types tends to be fair, sensitive, soft, warm and of medium thickness. Pitta skin can come up in rashes, acne, rosaces or sunspots when out of balance,

Kapha Skin : kapha skin tends to have all the qualities of water and earth – it can be thick , soft , cool and more tolerant of the sum. Kapha skin is less prone to wrinkles and ages slower in comparison to other types. Complexion can de dull with enlarged pores, excessive oil, blackheads, moist types of eczea and water retention.

Vata Skin care

Using proper vata nourishing products is very important for Vata skin to youthful. A specific combination of some essential oils or herbs, is used to prepare wrinkles and premature aging.
Discipline in sleeping, eating and following a regular daily routine are essential components of a holistic approach to Vata skin care, as are eating foods, that help balance Vata and nourish the Vata skin.
